Positive Path Recovery (PPR) is a success-centered approach to addiction recovery. The Eight Principles
of PPR offer ways for a person to commit to a path of recovery and to be successful on that path. This approach is explained
in Gary Blanchard's book, Building and Maintaining Recovery. The book also offers a series of exercises to aid recovery.
Gary Blanchard, a licensed alcohol and drug counselor, offers individual counseling for people with substance-related
issues as well as other mental health counseling. Located in West Brookfield, Massachusetts, Gary's work is especially
geared to people with a chronic relapse history, those who are not comfortable with traditional treatment, and
people with co-occuring mood disorders.
Gary has an approach to addiction treatment that stresses the need to develop positive life skills
to support recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction. It also places a focus on building and maintaining recovery rather
than preventing relapse. Gary Blanchard's book, Building and Maintaining Recovery: A Success-Centered
Approach to Addiction Recovery, offers tools for success in recovery.
Gary uses Motivational Enhancement and Cognitive/Behavioral techniques to help people overcome the obstacles
in their lives and to attain their goals.
